Easy Health and Fitness Tips that you can Incorporate into your Life

The complaint of many people is that it is too difficult to improve their health and fitness because it is too time consuming and complicated. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you make some simple changes and ensure that you incorporate them into your life, you will be able to follow them for the long term.

  1. Start off slow. If you have not exercised in the past, do not suddenly start off by trying to run several miles or lift heavy weights. This kind of behaviour leads to injuries and will not be sustainable.
  2. Purchase healthy foods. Shop the outside of the grocery store. All the snack foods are in the centre of the store and the healthy foods are located around the outside square. You will find the dairy, fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats around the outside of the store.
  3. Avoid processed foods and fast food. Processed foods contain many harmful chemicals and additives that are not good for you. Additionally, when you eat processed foods, they can have detrimental effects on your body. Fast foods are high in unhealthy fats and are also heavily processed. They can contain high amounts of sodium and sugar and can cause weight gain.
  4. Park farther from your destination. If you are out of shape, start off slowly with some walking. Start parking your car farther away from where you are heading whether it be work or another location.
  5. Purchase a health tracker. There are many options for health devices that can track your vitals including counting your steps and keeping track of your sleep habits and heart rate. As you start to move more, you can add some apps to your smart phone that can pay you rewards for the exercise that you report. Step counters can create a healthy competition amongst friends and family and encourage everyone to move more and get enough exercise.
  6. Determine your caloric needs and remain within them. Try to eat three meals per day and ensure that you have reasonable portions on your plate. You should aim for protein the size of a deck of cards, one cup of vegetables and one-half cup of starch.
  7. Drink enough water. A loose guide is that you consume half of your body weight in litres of water. Water is vital to all your body functions and your body is 80% water, so it is extremely important that you consume enough water each day. There are days that you will not consume the necessary amount of water and that is not life ending, but you may have some side effects such as a headache and darker urine.
  8. Take a multi-vitamin. We cannot get all the necessary nutrients from the food that we consume, so it is necessary to take a good multi-vitamin and a mineral supplement to ensure that your body gets what it needs. If you do not take these, you may experience some strange cravings as your body tries to tell you what it is missing and what it requires for good health.
  9. Get plenty of sleep. Try going to bed fifteen minutes earlier each evening and aim for at least seven to eight uninterrupted hours of sleep per night. Sleep is a necessary component of good health in that it is vital to your body and is a time where the body makes all its repairs and rests up for the next day. If you do not get enough sleep, you may find that you are having a hard time losing weight or you are stressed.
  10. Try to set aside time for yourself. Stress can be very harmful to your health, so you should try to relax, do some deep breathing, and ensure that you are able to think calm thoughts. Deep breathing can clear stress from your body and allow you to relax.

These are just a few things that you can do to move towards a healthier life. It is important to make just a few changes at a time.

This will allow you more success because if you try to make too many changes at once you will end up failing because too much change can be unsustainable. If you make small changes for better health, you will notice that you feel and look better over time.

Moving more and eating healthier are two of the best things that you can do to be healthier, but any changes for the better are good.
